I was lucky enough to harvest a nice Axis this weekend and was wondering if anyone could recomend a place to have an axis shoulder mounted?

Also I was wondering if anyone has encountered good/bad from any of the local processors in corpus christi. I have alot of meat from the axis and a cull buck that I shot that I would like to have made into sausage and ground up.

One last thing do you mix any pork/beef in with your white tail and would you mix anything with the axis? Would you keep the Axis and White tail seperate when I get them processed?

I use John Baker with Safari Taxidermy in Corpus. Don't put the whitetail and axis together. Axis is one of the finest meats of all the deer and exotics. A&H processing does real good work for me.

take it to Scott Herschap in Orange Grove if you want an excellent mount. I take all of mine there. As far as processing, having all of an axis ground up is like grinding up ribeye steak. I'd say steak out the backstrap yourself and muscle out the ham and do the same, then get 50/50 ground beef/axis hamburger meat. Jack Scarborough in Banquete is the man for that. It's awesome.

If you have not taken it to a processer yet give me a call, I have one that is old school,He will not mix your meat with others.

I think John is the best bet for exotics Wink check out his website Cool
