I built 3 lights, each with different bulbs, however all of them used a rubber coupling/clamp on the end and no silicone whatsoever. very easy to change bulbs, and have had 0 issues with them. That being said, I used a regular round headlight high beam bulb, and 38 and a 55 watt 12V landscape lighting bulb. I can say that the headlight bulb was much better than either landscape bulb. We did use both the headlight version and the 55 watt one for roughly 5 hours, we used 2 batteries, however we never did kill the 1st one, just swapped em as a precaution before we ended up in the dark after leavng the boat. Ill try and get some pics of them today or tomorrow. |

I have a source on Ebay for 12 volt 120 LED light strips that are submersible / waterproof. If they were rolled into a flat circle I wonder how they might work for a flounder light?? The strings cost $9.99 including shipping. 2 strings could be connected together to make it 240 LED's. |

Who's interested in an led flounder light that runs off batteries and will out perform any 12 volt battery light set up? I make these, they output 300 lumens with a single super high intensity led. Runs off 4 AAA batteries. Submersable up to 5 ft. Bulb never gets hot so you don't have to worry about bulb popping. Can be used in or out of the water. Entire light is 1 inch PVC. Hauling around a 12v battery is heavy and unnecessary. LEDs are the way to go. Who's interested? Message me for pics |
