So far 0 in '06 but 7 last year. Its been tough to find fish period this year for me. Maybe some good will come here in the second half of the year. To me the fish I caught this year are much bigger overall, but like I said not as many, this might be a good sign and maybe my trophy is on the way.

Yeah, same here, not too many limits but definitely better size. Not that it's been much of a factor, but I don't keep any that are at all iffy. We usually bring something home, but it's not like the good old days. I'm a shift worker, so I try and fish in the middle of the week, that helps.

I caught about 4 limits one day with Captain Kev but only kept 6 fish. On my own, zero limits.

I have caught 1 limit of trout this year. Of that limit 5 were between 20 and 25 inches so it was a nice catch both in size and numbers. Checking my records I did not have a limit in 05. I did manage a couple limits in 04. While the quantity of fish is not much different for me I do believe the quality has improved. I also caught my personal best, a 28" trout this year.

I agree that so far this year the 10 fish limit has been hard to come by. Reports from guides using live bait show some are catching limits every day. I have had days where I have pulled 20 keeper fish from one sand pocket in a couple of hours while wade fishing. Other times I drift flats and pick up one or two keepers per drift making for a long day. I would have to say so far this year I have caught several limits but I agree that I am catching bigger fish.

No limits for '06 yet, have came close though. A couple of times didnt have my drop net and lost 1 or 2 limits. Mostly from a pier or wading. This year has been slow in a boat as well for us, '03-05 were much more productive w/a few limits. The same areas fished the previous years dont seem to be holding trout like they were last year or the year before. Drift the same areas this year only to pick up 1 or 2 here and there definetely making the days long. With summer here and the water heating hopefully we will all be able to have better post in a few months.

My records show I've caught 7 limits of trout... and I've had a bunch more 4 or 5 trout days... But understand being retired I fish alot.. Matter of fact that's about all I think about these days... Also I consume a lot of fish because of my low fat (no red meat) diet.
If the real question is about trout populations, then I have noticed a decline from last year. But it may be the season is running a little late. |
