Went fishing in Nueces Bay yesterday morning. Fished from the causeway to the river mouth without much luck. There was not much tidal movement from about 8AM until noon so that may have been the reason. Saw birds working two different locations but when we checked it out the only thing biting was hardheads. The water was murky enough to make using artifical impossible and apparently if anything was biting they did not care for finger mullet. Managed to bring home a 20" trout and 24" red. The only other bites were: 1 undersized trout and about 6-8 hardheads.
Even though the fishing was slow it was a nice day to be on the water. The wind was not blowing 20+mph and it is not 100 degrees yet. The upside is that next time the fish will all be bigger since they had more time to grow. |
