| Sand fleas do as sand fleas do! Sand fleas are part of the beach scene year round. I find some at one spot, and then more than I can handle at another. It makes sense to fish the spots where sand fleas are abundant. The change in tides offers fish a indication of the sand flea population in a given area, so the fish will tend to prefer these spots. The more sand fleas, the more fish are feeding on them. |

Landlocked Beachbum posted this some time ago, and it's chocked full of great info about this species:

Plus it shows where to find them and how they react to the tides. |

| Has anyone ever seen one of those critters from the link at one of our local beaches? I spend a fair amount of time on PINS but I don't recall ever seeing one of of those or one of their shells. Just curious. |

I can vouch for the sand flea, and they are quite abundant on our local beaches. They tend to be a little smaller than the ones in that video, but they are certainly there. |

Thanks for the Cameo CS! I try to add something useful from time to time. When I saw this thread I got to thinking about that old post, glad you remembered.
In Florida the go to bait for pomps and sheepies are sand fleas, but just like the coastal bend, it can be hit and miss finding them. They are sold frozen down there....... Not in a Texas? _________________ Dave

| I brought my sandflea rake from FL, have used it a few times, haven't caught as many as I did in FL and they are smaller which makes it difficult to use as bait. In FL, it is the go to bait for pomps, they even make sandflea gulp but never seen it here. |
