I went out to Port-A this morning to fish the jetties. I hooked a kingfish on my 3rd or 4th cast of the day, I thought it was a tarpon at first becuase when i hooked him he jumped atleast 4 feet in the air. Little tunny were moving up and down the jetties in huge schools hitting minnows for about 30 minutes, I landed 2 but could have hooked alot more but I was having problems with my tackle, I released the king fish and kept one little tunny for shark bait. All caught on spooners, heres some pics

Great pictures--wish I had been there with my flyrod. Don't see too many Little Tunny.

Rooster--you weren't on Packery South Jetty this weekend were you? Picture looked familiar.

Rooster,

I was the "older "guy with the flyrod. Everyone said that Packery was great on Sat AM, but I only saw a couple of tarpon and didn't hook any in the afternoon--stayed till after dark but no one was catching anything.

I have only caught Little Tunny in North Carolina--I still think they may be the strongest fighting fish pound for pound. I have never caught a kingfish on the fly but have heard they are something.

Redfish, yea I remember seeing you out there, I would think those little tunny would be really fun on a fly rod and you are right, they do put up a real good fight for thier size

Titteline, I remember seeing you too, glad you got some fish I tried with some shrimp for a while but didnt have any luck.

I have seen a guy almost pulled off the rocks of the south jetty when a little tunny hit his bait! They do fight hard for their size! Little water rockets.
