Made a last minute decision to take the wife and kids down to PINS yet again...and we had a blast.
I was hell bent on heading down to Big Shell, but got just past the 4X4 sign and saw one heck of a pinch almost directly across from the rig(thanks for the explanation last week Tyler). I had to stop, and we set up shop for the day.
I started off throwing cut skip jack and caught....skip jack.... for the first hour or so. Then I went to dead shrimp. That's when the fun started. A long story short, we ended up finding a school of Bonnettheads. Eight sharks...yes eight (all released, and yes, all different ones )... and one nice sized whiting later, it was time for a beer, a victory cigar and some time with the kids. Was one heck of a good time.
On our way out the entrance had softened up pretty good. Saw one poor guy burried literally to the front bumber in a small rental car....he was so far in I could feel the engine hammering away in the sand. Looking at him I saw at least an hour of digging...felt guilty for telling him I couldn't help (of course, my wife's glare in my back ("don't you dare leave me and the kids sitting here for an hour!) and my own back (sore from the wind sprints to the rods) won out). We stopped at the shack on the way out...they already had the tow trucks on the way. Made me feel a little better.
All in all, another great day in the surf.... _________________ Fish ON! |
