I'm heading down to the coast this weekend to get away from my fast pace life here in San Antonio. I"ll be participating in the Annual Bluewave Boat Owner's Tournament in Port A. I just wanted to check with the local folks to see what type of bait or lure has been working for them lately in catching trout and reds. Typically, I fish with artificial plastics and spoons. I tend to stay away from live bait but I'm not opposed to using them if they produce fish. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated. I look forward in spending some time on the water down there. A much needed break for me. _________________ Gerald R. Johnson |

| spoons are good. if you want to use live bait reds haveing been eating mullet and mud minnows. Find a sand pocket or white spot and anchor up wind a good ways. Basically as far as you can cast.. Farther the better and toss the bait on the bottom. if fish are around they will pick it up. Shrimp will work too but perch normally get to them before the reds. Good luck and Have fun. |

| Ive been putting a whoppin on tourney sized reds with brown lures. Color does not really matter. Ive been using pink lemonade. Just cover the water with long casts and work them off the bottom |

Great response! Thanks for all of the information. I'll have to post what I came up with after the Bluewave Boat Owner's Tournament. I truly apprecaite everyone's input. If you see a 19' Bluewave Boat with the name Vida Loca on it, wave and say, "Hi." I look forward to this trip and I wish everyone good luck fishing. _________________ Gerald R. Johnson |
