Little different report then the usual kayak adventure today. We had a busy Saturday, and decided to go to the beach today, getting a late start this AM. Loaded all the beach stuff, stopped off for a breakfast taco, and off we go bright and early at 11 thinking of mostly a relaxing day at the beach. Of course I managed to find room for a couple rods, and some frozen shrimp. I knew it would be a one stop deal, as we were setting up the shade cover etc. Nothing looked all that great, w/ lots of weed on the beach, though no new stuff washing in. No bait, no birds--first 20 cast resulted in almost that many hardheads Had enough of that so took a break for an hour, messed around trying to get our new dog comfortable in the water, ate some lunch. Noticed the tide starting to go out, and a few birds picking. Waded out acros the diminishing wade gut, and threw to the inside edge of the first bar, and it was whiting city, ended up keeping 20, including some jumbos, with none kept under about 15". Also caught one undersize red (19") and lost what felt like a big drum. All in all a quality "family day" w/ my wife and the dog, with a bonus of catching a few fish .

Thanks for the report.
I fished Saturday afternoon around mm246 south of BH while the family had fun on the beach. Too much weed coming in and didn't catch anything. |
