Not to try and scare anyone but a buddy from work was talking to me about this fish he caught at labonty park was really weird looking. Has the look of a snakehead, I Pray that its not but couldnt think of anything else it could be. He has a cell phone pic thats not very good. He was actually scared of the fish said it was super aggressive, hit a lure. He said it would not stop trying to bite, even while on land. Bad part of the story is he released the damn thing. We googled up a pic of one and he said that it looked just like it. He's supposed to email me the pic later, I'll put it up.

I've caught a few lizard fish, didnt look like it. He said it had 2 big teeth top and bottom. Also said it was crawling back to the water.

The crawl part sounds like a snakehead. Let's hope it is only a bowfin.

No kidding. The two could definately be confused. Bowfin are agressive predators that will bite you if you're not careful. They also hit lures.

I caught one of those last year with my cast net at Station Street Pier. Mine was much...much smaller.

I'll bet what he caught was a Big Mouth Sleeper, I've caught several of them there at Labonte Park,, most people mistake them for a bowfin,,

Thanks for the links guys. He just saw the pics and has confirmed that it was indeed a big mouth sleeper. He though I was messing around with him when I told him the name. Are they pretty common around our lakes and rivers? First time I have ever heard of one.
