You know the last couple times i was out buzzing around the lagoon I couldn't help but notice the more than normal amount of jellyfish swimming around doing their thing. Now i'm not talking about the cabbage heads I'm talking about the stinging kind that swim below the surface dragging along those ghostly tentacles. Maybe its just a heavy season for the little boogers, just another reason I like drifting over wading. Maybe some of our local biologist could comment on this.

They are all over right now..Even farther north of Rockport. I read something about the salinity being real high in the bays and they like that.

Dang that's the reason. I was wondering why all the jellyfish families were here in there vans. Thought it was some kind of end of school convention or something. Thanks IMS.

Yep - go tore up in Baffin last weekend in shorts! That was some miserable wade fishing, but the trout bite was good.

I've been getting stung for the past couple weeks pretty regularly, but a little jellyfish sting isn't enough to keep me out of the water. No obvious reason for the increase in numbers this year. Just a good year for jellyfish I guess. Perhaps this has something to do w/ the increased numbers of turtles being seen in the laguna this year.

I forgot to bring that up last night we talked about the turtles , it was hard to concentrate on a subject while eating that wonderful raw tuna, man that was good.

on the Today show this morning they mentioned something about jelly fish population increasing with the "global warming".....can't find it now, but a search on google showed similar thoughts.

wading in denim sucks. it gets so heavy, takes forever to dry, and will chafe your you know what. the magellan and columbia fishing pants work great for jellyfish without the drawbacks of denim

Ditto on the magellans pants. Light weight, cool and helps prevent sunburn.
