My dispatchers brother in law goes out there all the time. He slays the trout on the far side of the channel.....Don't know if he is telling the truth or not, but he comes back with claims of 50, 60 -100 caught per night. All we get to see are his keepers.

No BS. I haven't been out recently but I was catching on average 50 per night on the clear 1/2 ounce D.O.A's. D.O.A's were better than live (lots of live wasted on undersized trout). I don't usually get out until about 10:00pm but they were/are typically strong between 11pm and 2am (turned on and off like a switch). I was cycling my smallest out for bigger ones because I reached my limit but someone told me that I could keep two bag limits because I was fishing between 2 days.
Does anyone know the official ruling on that???

GO TO TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE OFFICIAL WEB SITE AND GO UNDER THE FISHING RULE AND REGULATION BANNER AND IT IS THERE. THE DAY STARTS AT MIDNIGHT AND RUNS TO MIDNIGHT . SO THE ANSWER IS YES IF YOU WISH TO RETAIN A 2 DAY LIMIT YOU MUST CATCH THE FIRST DAILY LIMIT BEFORE MIDNIGHT THE THE NEXT DAILY LIMIT AFTER MIDNIGHT,BUT REMEMBER YOU CAN NOT GO OUT THAT FOLLOWING EVENING AND LEGALLY KEEP ANOTHER FISH OF THAT SPECIES BEFORE MIDNIGHT. STRAIGHT LINES TO YA.

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look at it. I was also uncertain of the conditions. For instance, I thought you had to keep the first limit separate from the second. Nevertheless, I'll look it up. Thanks again.
