|
Got up at 6:00am ready to roll out to Packery and slay some Trout. After a quick stop at the Bait Bucket for live shrimp, I was at the spot by 8:00 and things didn't look so good. The water was as low as I've seen it back there. Pretty much dry all the way to the channel drop off. Fishing was tough at best with only 2 Trout by 10:30. The first fish hit like a freight train and I really expected to have a slot Redfish on but as I got it up to the bank, I saw the silver flash of a fat speck. The fish went 19-1/2" and is my personal best for 2008. Shortly after, another Trout going 16-1/2 went in the box and that was it. Lots of bait activity on the far(north-west) side of the channel including bait stealing perch. After that, I popped out to SPJ for a quick jetty recon and not a bite. I guess I will sleep in in the morning and hope for some high water tomorrow evening. The winds are supposed to switch back to SSE so it may be ON!!
later,
Ernie |

| We were on NPJ by 8. 2 trout, 8 sheepshead (the really big ones seem to be gone), and several rat reds. The water couldn't make up its mind - "gray" to nice green. |

Caught and release a 23" last Tues PM at Humble channel on gulp natural shrimp, under popping cork.
No freeway lights on, apparently due to road construction on SPID. No undersize trout just 4 nice keepers.
another 18" last night. Fishing was slow.... _________________ I wouldn't take Tuesday off if you will show me a fish that bites on weekends! |
