TRIP TO FLOATING CABIN 01-11 THRU 01-13. Went down to the cabin on FRIDAY arrived around noonish and set everything up for the day. the 4 folks i took with me started fishing both on bottom and topLIKE THE LAST TRIP. one person(MY SON) had been with me numerous times through out the years so he didnt ask anything just started doing what he has from the trips before. he decided to start on bottom using dead shrimp for bait.
the other 3 persons have never been before and was very excited about the the trip to the cabin. after the hour boat ride from bird island to the cabin everyone was ready to fish.
the weather was beautiful friday afternoon there were lots of ducks and a whole lotta fish popin the top when we got to the cabin. Well i got finished setting up the generator and unpacking food while drinking and few soda's L.O.L., when my SON was calling me,
( he had a nice 26 inch black drum on the line.), after a few minutes of reelin and talkin he landed it. the other 3 persons came to life and wanted to start bottom fishin so i rigged up another 3 poles for bottom fishing and it was on, nonstop action from a round 2p until about 1 hour before sunset then it just stopped.
after about 3 hours after sundown, with the greenlight on, the action got hot and heavy with the trout. you could use anything you wanted and they were just tearing it up, they didnt seem to be picky on this night. we were limited out with the first limit of trout by midnight. The next day it was steady catching of black drum and reds mixed in together. at around 1030 saturday night the cold front blew in qwith a cold strong nort wind that made everyone bundle up that was fishing. as the water started moving from the force of the front the trout turned on and a second limit was put in the box. ost wree from 18 to 20 inches in length. there Was A whole lot of keeper fish we threw back due to no more room in the icechests. here are some pics.
