| On a recent trip to Packery Channel, I made the mistake of leaving my rod baited with a live piggy perch just dangling above the water surface without a rod holder. While I casted my net to catch some mullet, my fishing partner hollered that something had pulled in my rod/reel into the water; and fortunately, he was able to pull it out with his own rod. A red had taken in my rod. I was wondering if anybody can recommend me a place where I can take my penn slammer 360 to be cleaned/greased/oiled? I contacted my local Academy here in Laredo but they don't provide any cleaning services. My penn slammer 360 is not quite as smooth anymore after that incident, even though I oiled it with 3-In-One already. |

| Did you break it down and clean it or just oil it? |

| It's almost too late, but I have done it a week ore more after a good dunking like that. Remove the reel fron the rod and submerse it in a bucket or the the sink filled with tepid(just warm) water and let it soak for 10 or 15 minutes, then reel it just like you were cranking it in afte a long cast. Do this several times, then remove it from the water and let it drain on an old towel. This will help flush the salt out of the reel and minimize any internal corrosion. Next, dissassemble it and clean it thoroughly or have it done professionally. I have dunked many reels in my life, all different sizes, makes and models, and this has alway worked for me. |

I used Bob's Customer Tackle in Aransas Pass, I was satisfied with his work and cost. Good turn around time.

Careful when you put the reel back together again. My 260 was down for normal maintenance when I put it together and gave it a good crank and broke a gear inside. Cost me some bucks and the reel was down for about a month.
As I was walking out the door I had to have a reel to fish with so I plunked down the Visa for a new Stradic. Of course I had to have a new rod when my 260 came back. |
