The ducks were flying and the fish were biting. Romann and Snookered made the call and decided duck hunting was the choice for the afternoon. Romann and Willie were set up with a nice spread of dekes next to the mangroves as Snookered and I headed out in the sex wagon negotiating the three foot deep water holes in the road. Next time when you offer to drive I will take you up on that! Very Happy I was expecting to see live finger mullet in the floor board as we got out.

Snookered had gun and the kitchen sink with him as we waded across in our hip waders. While on the way we spotted a nice red in the flats which Snookered tossed to several times with his fishing rod while holding his toddy between his knees as I held his shotgun, ice chest and old blue.
We negotiated the last 100 yards of calf deep mud and set up in the duck lair Romann and Willie created complete with what looked like red Aquafina bottles Wink in camo straps. We ended up seeing a few pintails high flying solo and had a few shots at some redheads. Willie got a redhead drake with about a half mile walk assist from Romann. Romann had a nice hen. Snookered and I got a pair of ringing ears Very Happy
It was great to get out!

The birds are getting pretty smart around here. I'd say most of the pintails we've seen this year were flyin high. Shamrock certainly has its share of the pins too. Thanks for the report.

The ducks do seem a little scared. Went out last afternoon with two buddies. Saw a lot of ducks - mostly redheads - but few were willing to come in towards the dekes. Saw one Pintail who was coming in. Too bad we had just set up the dekes and weren't hidden yet. Oh well. Ended up with 5 redheads. Not a bad afternoon.
