My Houston brother, who surfs Galveston sent me this pic of a Tiger caught off the jetties/Galveston last week. I'm no shark expert, but it does have stripes along its side. Is this a tiger? And, if so, how rare is such a catch? I know based on Oz's accounts and other postings that a Mako is a rare catch off the surf, and I don't recollect any tigers being caught on PINS since I joined this forum a couple of three years ago. Thanks.

| That was caught off surfside Jettys, There some nice fish that come off that jetty. I often fish the San luis pass pier in Freeport Tx,which is about 10-15 miles or so from surfside. I have been fishing CC for about 26 years now and have never had as much luck as i have at that pier. It is very common to limit out on trout and reds. I have fished alot of areas in CC, with a guide and w/out and never have seen as much action as i have at San luis pass pier in 1 night. It is also common to catch several 25+ even trout 30+ at that pier in 1 night. I have had more luck there in 1 night off the pier than i ever have whether its from land or in a boat. I will down there from 5/12-5/16 and hoping to tear them up as i've done in the past...chk out there site sanluispass.com |

FINS,
I have only fished the San Lous Pass pier once. I was accompanied by a Gander Mountain friend, who swears up and down that a certain spot on the pier has a "deep hole" and you'll catch a thousand trout a night!.....I scoffed at his claims, for I know that waves, sand and such would cover up such a hole......Well, to put it mildly, he was RIGHT!!!!!!! .....We fished the side of the pier, under a particular, counted light, and slayed 'em!....
