I am looking for an offshore boat 24' to 28'. Must have trailer, preferably outboard as I plan to replace it with a new 250, dont really trust a used engine going offshore. If anyone has one out there that is for sale let me know.

Not sure what you are looking for but TPW is selling some used boats. These are well broken in but if you are looking for a project they may work. I think most of the motors are spare parts.

My ex used to work for TPWD , they used to run some very nice Makos in the size range your looking for , if it is true they are selling or doing the auction thing it would be worth your time to look into it ...

You might concider taking your time. Reposesion of boats is growing fast. In California alone it's grown 200% this year. Or ....
http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/gsaauctions/ ......... Just click on the boats section. You might find something dirt cheap here. Dealers buy these then resale.
Cheers!

You just stated a very tough question. You need to do some serious research and then consider your skills and budget. I have seeen guys buying old Mako's, Bertrams and do most of the re-building work themsleves to get a great boat. If you have a limited budget and still want to go offshore then wait for good weather and get a used 17-ft Boston Whaler with a modern 4-cycle engine, hydraulic trim tabs and a good Rule pump. and put lots of stainless hand rails around it.

If I was looking at a new single engine offshore boat I would look today at a used 31' Oceanmaster (good one will run you $15,000 for just the hull - but will need new paint and gelcote) and put one of the 350 HP Yamaha V8s with a 30" shaft on a on it hung off a Armstrong Positive Floatation Outboard Bracket with swim platform and ladder and add some good trim tabs. Boat is built like a rock and engine is too!
