Did a Tournament this past weekend, and had a Team weighing in the 2 trout, 2 reds for a total stringer. Both of the trout just didn't feel 'right' when I felt their bellies, so I went on with my business, got the reds done, called out the total stringer weight to the scribe, and then surprised them when I held the fish back.
Busted out my roe knife, and split the belly of one of the trout open, and low-and-behold, in it's gut was a brand new, shiny, egg sinker!!
DQ'ed the whole Team, all the while this guy is saying "I didn't put that in there", "That fish must have swallowed somebody else's tackle", "The Guide must have done that" <------ Seriously, he actually said that!
I didn't cut the 2nd trout open, but it had the very same feel to it. I just told them 'TO GIT"!!! |

I have a local reputation of being one of the toughest Weighmasters out there, and I like to think I'm pretty thorough. Once they changed the laws to make it a felony to cheat in a Tournament, I've seen less and less of this nonsense. The total cash payout cap has to be met for the felony charge to kick in, and this one was pretty small and under the cap.
Been doing Tournaments for 30+ years, and it not nearly the Wild West it once was. |
