Yesterday I put out a few crab rings to see what's what. Caught some mullet off the dock and also used a big old pork roast bone from the night before. Wound up catching 16 of these guys.
A crazy thing was I caught seven of these.
And had dinner tonight.
And with some of the leftovers I'm going to make crab omelettes in the morning |

Although the 'soft' end of the hermit crabs makes for a decent bait for sheepshead on the jetties, Just say'in......... |

Great to see the crab population has made a comeback. In the later 90's the amount of legal sized crabs drastically fell off. I remember as a kid (early-mid 90's) being able to get more than enough to feed several people in the grass beds off our pier in the land cut, or even in the grass beds between the shore and the intersection between Bluff Landing channel and Whiteley channel. Brown Tide took over and the number fell off significantly. |
