Can one take their own Rods on the trip or are you at the mercy of the supplied tackle? If you can take your own, what would be the ideal setup for an 8 Hr trip. Rod reel and test.
Is this type of trip both drift and bottom fishing?
I'd imagine a weekday is probably better to go on a trip but should there not be enough people to make it worthwhile ($$$) will they cancel?
Any comments or suggestions welcomed. _________________ Cast Till it MHz

Yes you can and folks usually bring 30to 50 lb class rigs with 4/0's or small smaller jigging rods. They nornally will do both drifting and bottom fishing.

I'll back up Tyler on this. I have a 3-0/40 lb test and a 4-0/60lb test and have brought both out on the Adventurer on a 7' big water rod. They will provide the terminal tackle whether you use their rods or yours. I wouldn't run right out and buy a set-up until you have tried theirs. the rod's aren't the most sensitive but the gear is good quality and well maintained. They also allow coolers up to 48qt
The weekdays are definitely better in my opinion as there are usually fewer people on the boat. Last year they had a lower limit of 11 people for the trip to go, but with the cost of fuel that may have gone up. I have only been cancelled once this year and that was for a 12 hour trip with a horrible marine forecast.
Give Beverly a call and ask all the questions your want. They will be happy to answer and they do a great job on the water as well. I'm planning a trip on Tuesday with my daughter (her first) if the weather cooperates. |

Depending on what boat u go on dictates a bottom fishing or a drift trip. I've been on a 10hr assuming it was for botton fishing but no, we ended up drift fishing the whole time. Two fish (kingfish) was caught that day and I did not catch the other one.
Yes u can bring ur own tackle just make use of their weights, terminal tackle, etc. afterall u paying for it.
5'5" - 6'6" boat rod/standup, 50-80lb string on 4/0-6/0 reel.
IMO ur wasting your time and money on an 8hr. If u reely reely MUST go
on an offshore trip, then go waste time & money on the 8 hr. Good luck!! |

| I've taken my own rigs out on the Adventurer before no problem. Like was stated above they also allow coolers which most other headboats don't allow. If Jeff still capt's that boat you should get some fish. Good luck. |

Snapper sounds great, will be there for over a week so who knows what will happen with the weather and all. I'll try to catch the Thursday trip, I think eight hours would be more than enough for me, although others may appreciate the chum provided. _________________ Cast Till it MHz
