Went out about 11:00 this morning and things were kind of interesting. I fished three different colors of water. Fairly clear, stained and very stained . In fairly clear water I caught a few trout on chartreuse. And slightly stained water I caught this red fish and a few trout on red paddle tails. And when I fish highly stained water I was able to pick up a few trout on purple. Overall I caught and released five keeper trout, although nothing was worth riding home about and a red fish. And I did catch a bunch of undersized trout.

I was experimenting again today. I was in one area and I caught a nice red on chartreuse Sand eel. Put down my power pole and made five casts with the red paddle tail, five cast with purple sand eel and five cast with tequila Gold. One little bump on the red. Went back to the chartreuse and picked up two trout. Went to another spot and water was pretty much the same and did the same experiment. This time caught three trout on red, one on chartreuse and nothing on tequila and purple. I guess the moral of the story is if you're not catching anything keep switching colors to see what's working.

By the way caught and release six reds and six trout.

One of the reds was amazing. Hooked into it and when it started stripping line I went over and put down my power pole. I reeled it in four times to the boat and each time when it saw the boat it decided he didn't want to come in and just ripped line out again. On the 5th time I started reaching for my net thinking that it was tired and I can get it in when he turned around flipped his head real hard and broke me off. Never got to get it in but it was in the mid-thirties easy. It was a blast to catch and I wish I was able to get a picture.

I took a picture of this last one I caught cuz I thought the colors were just outstanding.

I'll give a particular bait/color about 10-12 casts then change if no success.
