| My box has gotten smaller and smaller in the last few years as I realize there's really not much I need to carry aside from a few replacement baits for if I have a line failure. |

Ha! Ha! Coach Zia you hit the nail on the head for me. Living and working in Austin, and having young kids caused me to put off my coastal fishing for many years. As a result, when they left home to make their own way, I began to totally start over with my fishing gear, since I had been primarily a freshwater fisherman in East Texas and Louisiana. The result was I bought a new shallow water hull and rigged it in my driveway, bought most of the popular soft and hard baits and organized them in a carry-on bag. The funny thing about this is I've used very little of most of the baits, and continue to buy baits, as favorites change!
I could probably start a tackle shop! Maybe there is a good use of that vacant c-store on Laguna Shores! |

Hello, my name is John and I have a tackle addiction.
I use the same three-four baits over and over. Tequila gold or green paddle tails, Johnson spoons, flashy jigs (for surf) and New Penny Gulp under a rattle cork. Offshore it's pretty much the same only the lures get bigger and I might use a deep diving plug. I could fit everything I use into a fanny pack and have enough room for a stringer and a set of needle nose pliers.
In reality, I have a four drawer tackle box for inshore and a three drawer box for offshore.
I even have Muskie lures I bought in Canada that I have never used, thinking they would make good King baits. |
