well? how did it go? was it informative? did CCA and TPWD shove us new regulations over apfb's vehement objections? or are they going to start a new study to try and capture the data of people gigging at night, which was the purpose of the meeting?

Don't know. Joined the Zoom meeting, but the steady beat of the rotors of the Black Helicopters circling overhead drowned out the audio feed....... Rolling Eyes

oh geez...so the audience had more important things to say about flounder than the biologists? sounds about right...

Not at all how I thought it should have gone. I was expecting a live feed into the actual in person meeting. I can tell you that from a close friend that attended the guide meeting in person, there is a huge lack of trust by the public. (at least those that really know what is really going on)

I like how people logged in to the meeting under fake names and such. Carlos Bonnot LOL. We all know that was Mr. CCA himself, and I have the FB screen shots of his alias accounts to prove that. If your not pushing an agenda "carlos", then why work in the shadows and avoid stuff?

What is truly shocking to me is how this structure of TPWD works. You have actual biologists that are TPWD employees, then they give data to a group on a committee (The CRAC) who is 50% all lobbyists with an agenda, and those people tell suggestion regulation changes to the commission. Its a corrupt system, and its not what is good for the public. My questions about why a regulation change was made with partial data will never be answered by any TPWD coastal fisheries staffer. You can see my posts dating way back on coastal fisheries FB page asking for nightime surveys, WAY before the the HRI study was ever done. Maybe I need to show up and ask that in Austin in person to Mr. Buckeys at the next public comment meeting?

They will get partial participation on this survey starting at midnight tomorrow, bc a lot of people are leery of how this data will be used. And having only 1 girl biologist do these creels at night at 1 boat ramp a night, 5 days a week, by herself is not very smart employee resource usage. The traffic counters are also not even accurate. I chuckled when I heard that in the meeting. You have no idea what type of boat is backing into the water or what they are doing. Might be some HS kids in daddys john boat wanting to smoke some midnight reefer, not flounder giggers.... I will be getting with HRI as well to start tagging and releasing rod n reel flounder hopefully soon. My personal life is extremely busy, but I will find time to tag. Had a few good ones sunday that would have been great tagging candidates.

IMO and in the opinions of many actual flounder fishermen, TPWD needs to get that flounder boat at the hatchery up to par, and go out there and do shoreline counts of fish. This online survey only is gathering killed fish, not smalls, or fish that people passed on looking for better fish. Thats better than no fish, but still not the whole picture. Also, we have satellite ping tags, time to get ole fred linked up to the sats...The biggest unknown to TPWD is the actual fish habits. Its 2022, not 1950, lets get with the times and use technology to get REAL TRUE DATA!

The meeting was only a show and tell about the app and reporting. They didn't seem very interested in Corpus bay or the ULM to be honest. Only middle coast.

well, that's where most of those guides are doing two trips a night, so....follow the pressure I guess...

at the very least they're talking about it now, so maybe something good will come of the discussion...

Not to engage in an argument (<--- insert closing door picture here), but that is factually incorrect, and not how the TX Administrative Code is written.Rolling Eyes

Who is doing 2 trips a night? Hardly any of the guides I know are.

CS, then tell the public here how it is then....

The influence to the commission from the CCA, SEA, and all the other "conversation" groups is WAY deeper than you think it is. They want to turn texas into florida, period!
