Coming down for a week starting tomorrow, will be staying at Mustang Island state park and bringing the kayaks this time.
Since my usual launch spots are more than likely rained out mudholes right now, I was thinking of Wilson's as a spot I won't get the truck stuck.
Issue is, I've been broken into there before. Has it gotten any better? |

You might want to check with the park.
Saw on the news they were closing either the beach camping or the park camping, can't remember which or both till tomorrow due to the rain, high water and tides.
Haven't fished out of Wilson's in years, so couldn't answer that. _________________ Steve-O

| Thanks for the heads up, I called the park. The behind the dunes campsites are still good to go, it's only the beach side primitive sites that are closed. Hopefully, that will not effect getting driving onto the beach itself, I was hoping for some surf fishing. |

| Fished there a few times earlier this year over the weekends without issue, seemed parking there during the day on a weekend had plenty of traffic to feel safe. I parked there at night a few nights to go gigging and it felt very uncomfortable, considered driving truck out near the road to park and walking back but instead just got off the water before midnight. Its dark back there. |

I put in there pretty frequently throughout the year but usually launch to the right, which more times than not entails a refreshing saltwater dunk for the truck and trailer. I've never had an issue but maybe the thieves care about their undercarriage enough to be deterred by mother nature's moat. I've also been broken into at Packery Park and off of Whitecap, I think the scumbags are everywhere. I've just chalked it up to wrong place at the wrong time, or just not living quite right and a little karma finding equilibrium. |
