I knew the weather was gonna be krap today for the cleanup today, but it was the most uncomfortable three hours I think I've ever spent down there.

Temp about 45 degrees, Wind 15-20 with occasional gusts higher. Intermittent drizzle. And not enough trash so you could keep somewhat warm picking it up.

That was the good part!!!

The return trip was one of the worst rides I have had down there, and I've seen some pretty gnarly conditions in the fifteen plus years of beach cleanups I've done. The tide was coming in which erased the low track. Large debris, logs mostly at the high track. The area in between was the most jumbled up mess of tracks, ruts, bumps and washboards imaginable. So rough that I had to pull over twice to puke.

A great way to avoid honey do projects and spend fifty bucks on diesel.

I have never been down there, but thanks for your help in cleaning up the messes left by that worst species of pigs: The Two-Legged ones!

I always carry trash bags in my truck, kayak and skiff. My wife and I used to do a two-mile walk on Rockport Beach, and always picked up two bags full of mostly plastic. And this is on a beach that is cleaned every morning by city employees!

About forty years ago, I beachcombed in the Bahamas. The most common flotsam there were odd flip-flops and disposable Vinegar and water deployment device bottles! I guess the cruise ship cabins have windows that open.

I sailed across the Gulf three times, and daylight to dark every day I saw a styrofoam coffee cup about every quarter-mile! Unbelievable.

Yes indeed it was a zigzag adventure coming back from the 47 mile marker.
Those volunteers pulling trailers were really struggling.
IMO fewer volunteers this year.
