Despite the full moon, I couldn't let another still October morning get by without at least trying to put some fish on the stringer. At first light I was set up and quietly cruising shorelines, and it didn't take long to find some. I needed to hurry and catch a few because I had work meetings after lunch that could not be missed. By the time I headed to the truck at 9:00 I had a limit of fish and had released seven others. I caught a couple of pumpkins on a DOA paddle tail, but nine of them fell to a crab fly
...as I left, there were still multiple schools quietly moving along the shores but the clock was ticking for me to get a shower and head to the office. Saturday can't come soon enough.

Beautiful sunrise and reds!
I gotta try that fly from a kayak thing someday..
Doubt I could hang with you on a nine mile paddle tho... _________________ Steve-O

Very nice. Still waiting on that imitation crab fly to hit the retail establishments! _________________ A little salt water in your veins is good for you! |

Yeah I tend to seek out spots that other folks can't or won't go to, beyond easy reach. The peace and quiet (and numbers of fish) make the efforts worthwhile though. Just switching from a powerboat to a kayak is a big step up in stealth that makes a noticeable difference in how the fish act. Most fish I hook are within 25 feet of me, and it makes a delicate fly presentation easy. |
