I fished with some friends the last few mornings in spite of the full moon. They wanted to go early so we did. We fished the intercostal south of JFK at various spots from sunrise to about 10:30. Water was pretty clear, not much wind if any at all. We caught fish everywhere we went. Trout, Flounder, Reds, Skipjack and a few Jack Crevelle. All of the fish were along the edge on the ICW. The reds were in the shallow grass next to the deep water and we mostly sight casted to them. Reds of all sizes, everywhere we went. Tons of bait all sizes. We caught everything on soft plastics, Trout up to 23 inches and lots of fish just below the new 17 inch limit. We keep a few trout and let everything else go. It was good to see how well the laguna seems to be recovering and it was fun fishing.

Wanted to pass this along, its pretty good right now even when the moon, tides and solar tables tell you it might not be.

thanks, good to know they are there. i fished packery yesterday 4pm-10pm and didn't catch a thing. Working the drop-off and grass like you said. mornings have to make the difference because i saw no game fish move out of the channel at sundown and only spotted 3 undersized flounder gigging for 2 hours. Water was h.o.t.
