weather may clear later this afternoon...the rain the last two days has done that...the rain sitting in the same place tends to have a stabalizing effect on the atmosphere after a while...I'm betting on 2:00 ish...I hope...
BTW, isn't wunderground a great site? check out Dr. Gregory's tropical weather blog...disregard all the bloggers though... most of them are idiots on that site, but his initial blog each day is very informative...

We set up camp on 6-30 and started to leave early on the 4th. Storms on the 3rd did a lot of damage to our camping stuff, but we managed to get stuff squared away for another night, which was stormy also but no additional damage. Anyway, on the 4th, as I said earlier, we had started packing up and the day was looking so beautiful, the wind laid down, the surf was laying down and the pretty water was coming closer to the beach, I told my wife "We should stay one more night" and she said okay. well a couple of hours later a cloud started building and I thought no problem it will probably build all the way to the beach and that would be it, no, so we loaded up and drove down to the port mansfield channel to check it out and the rain followed us, we turned around and went back and as we got to camp one helluva storm commenced to blow. The one tent that had survived the other storms was laid down perfectly flat on the ground from the wind, and consequently filled up with water, at which point we decided that if there was a break in the rain we would get out and throw everything in the back as quick as possible.

I am sure that is a long enough paragraph, especially with all the grammar nazis posting lately.

We got everything loaded except the kayak, I begged my wife to help me, as the rain started pouring down again. She did help me get it on the rack, and I got to tie it down myself, a couple trips around the truck for each tie-down, got soaked. Drove to about the 25 and gave up and spent the night, the rain was so hard that we were driving through standing water most of the time. backed up to the dunes and slept in the truck, couln't open the windows because if the rain wasn't pouring in the mosquitoes were.

On the 5th of july we left out early from our truck camp and it took us over two hours to drive out from the 25, again through standing water on the beach most of the time. There were some incredible ruts left from the water draining off of the beach.

Our fishing experience wasn't very good either, whiting were reliable on the low tide, and that was it, ran out one a little north of the mansfield jetty and nothing but crab damage after 4 hours.

Smart coyotes chewing the latches off of the ice chests? this was my first experience with this.(and we have camped on PINS 5 or so times a year for the last 8 years) They got all of the slice ham and cheese, but not the
BEER:)

and even on another note You may learn from my inexperience, when you go to loading your new 160quart ice chest, don't make the beer the bottom layer, you will melt a lot of ice digging them out and also get frostbite on both of your arms up to just below your shoulder, and for some reason my wife was not very compassionate about this and would not go and dig for my beer for me.

I must apologize to Bigdaddy1, I probably should have started a new thread for this but I saw the radar loop and thought that I could see me and my wife shagging supple bum trying to load everything into the back of the truck, between two fingers red on the radar.

I am going to try again next month and hope for the happy ending next time.
