Went out where I was catching all the fish two days ago and the water was Brown ugly. Went a little further east and found some cleaner water and picked up this 24-in red and two 16 in trout. Went around for second drift and water there was turning brown. The winds weren't too bad don't know why the water is so turned up. Anyway, that was it for the day. Release the trout and filleted the red for my neighbor and her grandson.
Whenever I come in a bunch of pelicans come looking for handouts. After throwing all the remains over I threw the entire head in the water and this pelican grabbed it and was working to try to get it down for 15 minutes when I was sitting down at my dock. He kept swallowing and then regurgitating trying to swallow it and then regurgitate. You can see the big lump in its neck from the redfish head. Finally flew off some place to get away from the other pelicans. It was funny watching it.

Ha! I think I saw you sitting there enjoying the show! Yesterday Mark through out the remains from some trout to a large group of pelicans and I remarked to him I had never seen them fight the way they were, and I mean fight! There must have been 25-30 of them coming from every direction. His reply was "they would get in bed with you if you let them!" They are funny, it seems they almost time Tony's return when he goes fishing and wait on the boat dock roofs like dinner is about to be served! |
