Yesterday I went out for no more than an hour couldn't find clean water anywhere. Which was really strange cuz the winds have not been up very high. I even went over into Padre Isles hoping to fish some of that deep water to pick up some fish but visibility was about a foot. Saw a lot of boats stuck on shallow water sandbars. So today decided to go duck hunting with my son and twin grandsons instead of fishing.

It was a blast, literally. We couldn't fish so we got to the blind early. Taught the kids how to use the duck calls. They were calling in ducks for us and we all had a fun time.

I'm going to make them by marinating them in mixture of half orange juice and half Italian dressing for several hours and then throw them on the grill. Just a couple minutes on each side

Sounds like some good eating! The hog stroganoff sounds interesting. We eat a lot of deer and hogs around here. Chicken fried is my favorite but i like it all. My wife's favorite way is the canned deer and hog we make. Make tacos or in a gravy with it. Looks pretty gross in the jar but is really good!

Same here - in my younger days, i loved to hunt ducks and geese, i stopped on ducks same reason as you, the geese - nice snows we used to knock down here in the flats - between odem , annaville and the bay, off from the rail road tracks. Breast of those snows - to me was like roast beef. Sand hills werent legal back then, from what i hear, they sound pretty tasty. And i love venison, specially back strap of course, and most of all, wild hog.

Here was our dinner tonight. I marinated the duck breast overnight in Italian dressing and orange juice then I did it on the grill. I made an orange juice Cabernet wine sauce to put over the top of it. Added some orange slices and zest. Not a gamey taste whatsoever. Mary loved it and couldn't get enough. So she wants to invite our friends over when I get some more ducks.
