No! That's not a 35-in trout but 35 in of trout. Went out late morning and made a long drift and picked up about 20 trout but every one of them was undersized. So I decided to do a little trick that I used before. I used my same tequila gold sand eel on a 1/16 oz jig head and then tied a chartreuse sand eelJunior on a plain hook so ad not to adf too much weight. when I hooked into a fish that I knew was undersized I would not bring it in right away but let it swim around and play. On that drift I wound up catching three keeper trout that way. Went back and made another drift and picked up either three or four more keeper trout. One time I had on what turned out to be a14-in that I was playing with when I see this yellow mouth come after the sand eel jr. It was 21 in so therefore 35 in of trout. LOL

| Love the experiment! If I'm understanding you correctly you had a second bait trailing the first, and maybe tied to the eye on the first one? Either way, great lesson Coach Zia! Keep that up and you may find one of those 35 inchers! |

Sunday I almost did something similar. I was wading down south before the front blew in and saw something in the distance float up. As I am working my way I see that is is a dead fish floating but had some decent activity around it. I was still about 50 yards away when I picked up my first red. It was dead calm Sunday morning so I got him on my stringer and continued to the movement around the dead fish. I get within 30 yards and pick up red #2. Move up and within a few cast I had red#3. all between 23" - 26". I still had another couple yards to get to the floating fish but I think it attracted just enough bait fish to keep the reds busy. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. | Coach Zia, I'm a little surprised you didn't have problems with them tangling, but maybe because they were different weights it made a difference. |

Don't judge headlines how they read. I came into this thinking:
Warden: "What's that you got there?"
Zia: "It's a 35-inch spec!"
Warden: "That's illegal! I'm going to have to issue you a cit-"
Zia: [Presents 2 fillets tail-to-tail measuring 35" total (making them completely within slot limits)]
Warden: "Well, uh, have a nice day...." [sails off] _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
