Well I took Thursday off from work and went down PINS looking for reds with hopes of some pomps. Water was dirty looking as soon as I hit the sand. I stopped a couple of times in the high teens and 20's and blindly threw the cast net and caught one horse mullet and a baby pomp. That turned out to be the only pomp of the day. There was a thunderstorm dying out in the mid-20's and I saw lightning so I just drove down to the 30's where the water cleared and I could see mullet riding the waves or in the wade gut. I ran into a couple guys that had just started fishing a hole in the 30's and first cast for each was a slot red and a big skipjack. I took the skippie to use for reds. I stopped in several spots and made it to the 45 before I turned back north. I threw out some shrimp/fishbites and doubled up on hard heads back to back so the LDX went back in the truck. I caught 3 sharks, 2 big skippies, 2 huge hard heads, and a slot red on the skippie bait. On mullet I caught 2 more hard heads and another slot red. It was about 4.45 when I turned around at the 45 and the water was starting to come back in. I stopped somewhere in the 20's for a little bit and did not get a bite. My last stop was around the 17 or so and I stayed there until sunset. I caught a slot red on mullet, a 35inch 14lb red on cut skippie, and a 5lb gafftop on mullet. I think that is a new PB for gafftop. I had what I think was another red break my line right at the knot.
Been a long time since I posted anything. I actually paid Photobucket so I could get some baby pics off of there. So there are a lot of pics for everybody to look at when it's too cold to go fishing.
Driving was a little tough. The sand was wet but it was not hardpacked. It was real spongy and if I slowed down too much I would get wheel hop so I used a lot of 4WD.
I just noticed the sign said Tuesday the 22nd. It was Thursday for sure.
Yarborough Pass
There was some lightning in here in the 20's.

Great pictures - sounds like you worked harder thursday than i did out there - i planted myself at 18 and stayed there, i was going to head up into the 30-40s at least, but just relaxed , enjoyed the sand and the storm. Tuesday is looking good. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

| Looks like you had a highway down island. I was there this past weekend and it was getting interesting from the 17mm to the 30s with the soft dug up spongy stuff. |
