| When I drove by there the other day coming back from Port A I had thought about that. Haven't fished there in years. Used to like fishing over there. Although now I always worry about all the break-ins |

| Yes, Zia, the vandalism scared me off of Wilson's Cut as well. Used to love fishing there, just run out the cut and you're in good fishing country, now it's a long run going from PA and too many good spots in between. |

if anyone sees a gold ford 150 lurking around at Wilson's, please call the license plate....that would be appreciated, and I'll buy your "rounds"....

Thanks to all for the replies and to IrishSharker for the report. Like Zia and Max, I haven't fished SC for 2-3 years for various reasons. I don't have a powerboat so I wade or kayak. Are there other access points other than parking at the Wilson's launch area? _________________ HooYah!

| I used to kayak fish there all the time. Got broke into once and robbed, but still fished. Now the oil field road is closed, I don't feel it's worth paddling down the cut, and I'm sure the theft is still just as bad. If I had a boat I'd probably still fish there. Just leave your car empty. |

Trying not to hijack the thread here but are the other launch points off 361 (Kate's Hole & Fish Pass, etc) are just as bad with vehicle theft or are they a little bit safer? _________________ Work is for people who dont know how to fish! |

|
|
I've kayaked and waded both Kate's and the backside of the Fish Pass (Mustang Island State Park) in times past and backside of MISP more recently.
The paths to Kate's shoreline is a rough drive but as of a week ago, doable. Lots of challenging bumps and maneuvering to do and, if it gets rained on or the tides are high, it can be very tricky. Neer-do-wells solely intending to thieve and/or break into vehicles face the same drive in and out that you do. I personally have never experienced any bad acts by other people when fishing back there.
The backside of MISP is a decent drive to the western shoreline for the most part but about halfway in, there is a slough of water created by Harvey that spurned the unofficial creation of a "drive-around". Traffic (and maybe some stuck vehicles) created a huge pothole near the "drive around" path. Last week, I saw that some folks resolved the shrinking "drive around" by removing two of the cabled bollards that comprise a boundary fence and have thus created a new path around the pothole. As long as this path exists, driving to the western end of the Pass/Park is much easier and fishing can be very good back there. Personally, I think that Park personnel will repair the boundary fence and eliminate the new "drive around" path. I hope not but am not holding my breath.
Full access to the western end of backside MISP could be resolved by using oyster shell to build a one lane land bridge across the Harvey slough and I mailed that very idea to TP&W weeks ago. No wetlands will be harmed and full access to a great fishing area restored. Haven't received a response to my proposal yet, and again, not holding my breath. BTW, I've never personally experienced break-ins or thievery while kayak or wade fishing this area during many years of use.
Good luck and good health to all!
I miss fishing with my buddy Stan. _________________ HooYah!

| I usually fish the area by launching the skiff at the CCNAS ramp. No issues with break ins but it's not really doable for a kayak |
