Governor Abbott just had a news conference on reopening Texas. Actually sounded pretty sensible with the medical experts being able to slow the reopening if COVID increases.

State parks will open on Monday with 6 foot rule and masks required.

You may want to double check with whatever park on their status.

I know that the city/county beaches still require social distancing and 100ft between each car parked. Not sure what PINS is doing, but I imagine they're following similar guidelines.

Looked at TP&W website today and it's only for day use as of now, dangit. Mine and the missus's 32nd anniversary is this week and we had planned on going to PA for 2 weeks and get some fishing done. That got shot all to hell. I cancelled 1 wk. of vacation, I told her if we spend 2 weeks cooped up in the house, one of us will go to jail, she responded it will be her! Now I sleep with one eye open.

I looked up the Goose Island Park site and it said the boat ramp is open, but the park is closed. To go there, you have to call first. Don't know if they'll tell you to stick cash in an envelope, or what. Maybe tomorrow morning the instructions will change. Definitely no overnight camping. TexasJim

this sounds like a good system, staging boat launches to avoid crowds.
Also good water to fish and far from crowds in general.

Gate was open at Newport Pass Rd, heading north at lunch today. Didn't see anybody..... well, didn't see ANYTHING with the socked in by sea fog conditions.

The gate & locks are still there, I'm thinking for rapid deployment, should our Know-All - See-All County Judge 'Karen' makes any more stupid proclamations. Rolling Eyes

The gate was up on Access Rd. 3, on the highway, but the other gate was open at Newport Pass/'New' Sticks. So, I and a handful of others, enjoyed the 'State Park' this am. Construction continues at Newport, so it's going to be blocked off for some time, but you can still get in. Cool

Is the beach open at North Packery or along the boardwalk near the Holiday Inn?

So construction on Newport.
Does that mean road department is adding more potholes?
No, I did not say that.
Is it the same company as Lauguna shores road?
Sorry I just had to say for a friend.

Yes. And the Windward Dr. Parking lot has been re-opened.
