Just read that Nueces commissioners will decide TODAY whether or not to close county parks and BEACHES to users. Heads up for the announcement later today.

I still miss my buddy Stan!

I drifted out past that duck blind that he and Darryl used to like to fish by. Thought about him and all the great parties he had. He was a super guy

I personally think the decision has already been made. H#ll, the signs have already been made and placed on the barriers that go up at night. Scientific Fact: First thing the Coronavirus attacks when it invades the body is the part of the brain that houses Common Sense.

CS,
I agree with you but didn't want to speculate ala 2CoolFishing chest beaters & one-celled brains.
Some cigars and I are going wade fishing (social distancing) shortly on backside of SH 361. Guess I'll read the county's decision when I get back.

The stats the wannabee Stalins are ruling with. Yep,that's 65 cases,0 deaths for a 0.018 infection rate. Evil or Very Mad

the math here is simpler than that - the choices made are to keep out-of-towners out of town.

It is just really good that Corpus does not have ships docking here from elsewhere.

Word..

...... 50 or so-odd cases, in a City of nearly 326,000+ (and that's just the City Limits). And zero deaths, in our County, neighboring counties, and two Counties over..... in every direction.

I get it. It's not great, if you get it. But to destroy the economy over a virus that pales in comparison to yearly deaths attributed to (fill in your favorite malady here). I just don't get it.

Got in the water at Deadman's Hole @ 10:20 and started fishing. Waded west out close to the edge of the Hole throwing a bone Spook, soft paddletail and plum/chartreuse Assassin with no hits. Had a few hits by small trout and perch on a Billy Bay shrimp with no hookups. Waded back east to the flooded shoreline/mangroves and saw only two reds - no hookup. Waded that shoreline to the north for a while with no hookups. Called it a session after 2.5 hours of this but had fun getting out and trying. A few kayaks fishing in the Hole itself near the powerlines; saw one fellow catch a couple of small trout.
Not seeing any news update from the county so far but also not holding my breath for good news.

A person's life (irreplaceable) >>> economy

coronavirus (unknown) >>> your favorite malady

If you take that map and switch it from "#of confirmed cases" to "% of population infected", we go way way down. #StatisticsnotNews In fact, all of Texas including "hot spots" Dallas and Houston, are at the same level we are.

And also it's not updated, because Beeville reported their first cases yesterday but this shows them in the clear.

Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales just closed all of the County Beaches as an addendum to her previous Shelter at Home Proclamation. PINS will be Closed as well. This is only for the Easter Weekend to begin Friday April 10th at 6am and will last through Monday morning April 13th at 6am. PINS is expected to follow suit. Not sure if Kleberg will be closed but I suspect that the gate across that last Access Road before toll booth will be closed across the road that goes to the sticks.
