Have hit the surf a few times in the past week or so so i decided i would just post one report. 1st trip went down pins about 20 miles. Water wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. Caught tons of whiting and a few smaller pompano. NEst trip went to mustang island but there was too much weed in the water so i moved SBH to see if i could find some better water. The water was much better there, and i caught one red with alot of good sized whiting. Saw that the surf was supposed to be nice yesterday so i went SBH but the weed had shown up there. It was really bad, mostly when you got past the first sandbar. On on of my casts i pulled in a ball of weed mixed with branches and whip coral had a stone crab and a large spider crab in it. On the positive side, the water looked much cleaner, and there were birds heavily feeding on small minnows in the first gut. I threw under them but caught nothing but big skipjacks, most in the mid to upper 20 inch range, perfect for smaller to medium shark baits. Pony mullet were cruising the guts but not in large numbers.

I concur with Jetty Rat. Weed here and there, but the water color has gotten noticeably better, especially as you head south.
Past the Bowl, about 1/2 to the North Sticks, came across this behemoth!

Head to tail, it was feets across!

Thanks for the report! I had similar experiences in the surf from bob hall to about 10 miles down PINS in the last week. Lots of good size whiting. Made a quick stop at J.P. on the way back from Shamrock Cove area yesterday and water was looking excellent. Was hoping to grab some of those skipjacks but got kicked out at 7:35 by the cavalry.

I'm not restricted from leaving, I'm only subject to 14 day quarantine under admin leave OR work from home restrictions if I leave, That being said - there's nothing you can do at my job that is "work from home". LOL "Essential Personnel" has both up and down sides. Wink

We can answer calls by phone if able to, but half the time complainant wants contact. SMDH
