But dang, it is tough. Been fishing the Backyard between Tropic Isles and Pita. It has been slow for us. Drifting relatively clear, green and dirty green. Have not tried the chocolate brown water toward the mainland banks.
Fished Sunday late morning and then again evening. Boxed a 16 and 15.5. A few dinks mixed in. Plastics and gulps.
Tried again today midday and five dinks. Black sand eels mostly. Went out again this evening and my daughter caught a 23 on a gulp under a cork. CPRed it as it was fat and full of eggs. She caught another 15.25. Several more dinks mixed in.
No blowups on topwaters over two days.
Not shamed to admit that I have been keeping an eye out for zia to sneak in a drift behind him. And do not have Country & Western playing on my boat! LOL
Gonna keep grinding a few more days!
Apologies if the pic is huge, trying to deal with Imgur via an iPhone.

| Nice catch by your daughter. If you ever see me out there in a dargel with an Evinrude on the back just wave and I might show you a drifter too. Of course my 2 minute honey hole have to stay a secret. Lol. What kind of boat are you in. a friend of mine was drifting alongside me today and he wasn't as successful as I was. The secret was low and slow. When you think you're going slow enough slow down even more. The Fish are down on the bottom and the bite is not very strong |

I will keep an eye out for ya! Thanks for the slow tip, we have probably been fishing our plastics too fast. If you see me, come over and say hi. Bell with a gray Nissan.

Becky, some friends and I made one drift Sunday south of the power plant. I think we got one or two bites. 2 to 3 footers over there with no wind sock didn't help but it was fun to be on the water. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

lumpy and a fast drift did not help us at all....the Zeps spanked them later in the same area...

I don't know if I would say we spanked them. But Vudu Shrimp under a popping cork produced a box of 7 trout to 19", a 22" drum, a sand trout we threw in for giggles, and a bull red (CPR). Dinks were probably 3:1.
I little windy and sporty out there. Water was off color green to sandy. Most fish were in the sandy color water.

Most fish are full of juvenile shrimp right now.
Perfect time for ultralight gear and Vudu Baby Shrimp.
Ziva is right about low and slow.
