Anybody ever found a locking hitch pin that doesn't rust and seize up pretty quickly? I've tried a few and they always seem to seize up after a few months and usually at the wrong time and there I am in my own drive way with a cordless drill at 4am in the pitch dark looking shady AF.

Trying a master lock "stainless steel" version this time, but most of the locking mechanism is not stainless. I haven't found one with a stainless locking mechanism. I packed it full of marine grease this time. Maybe that will slow it down...

I've bought two from Academy over the years which are SS, if I recall correctly, and neither have frozen up with corrosion. However, I'm a fanatic about using CorrosionX wherever I suspect corrosion will occur, especially with a lock. After some thought, the first one I bought was not SS, but after seeing the corrosion it experienced over the years, I replaced it with a SS one. The non-SS one still works, due to the CorrosionX, but the SS makes a difference in how it weathers, so it must not be just plated SS, and probably is solid SS.

The one I have still works. It has CCP on the key. About 8 years old. It's pretty much on the truck all the time.

Newer truck models have locking hitch pins now that are usually coated in some thick plastic and also don't require a cotter pin. Since it seems to be a fairly new trend, I don't know what the general lifespan history on them is, but our truck at work has one and I love the locking idea behind it. Requires a key that comes with the truck but is not the ignition key.

Ours is a 2018 and we've had it on since it went in service. I have not seen any signs of corrosion or rust, as opposed to our old fashioned hitch on some of our older vehicles.

I use a bolt and locking washer/nut. That sucker is not coming off with out a couple of wrenches. On the plus side, it stops that annoying rattle of the ball mount in the receiver. Wink
