I'm sure keeping the lens clean would be a 24/7 job! We live on the mainland overlooking the Upper Laguna Madre from the West, and about 7 miles inland from the surf, and the wind and moisture is constant that far away. Maybe they could install windshield wipers? |

FYI, having 20/950 vision - is really close to what the BHP web cam view looks like. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

If there is anyway someone else, like me, can help, let me know. My talent is limited , but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a..... wait a minute - never mind, I can run a bottle of windex and a paper towel, and could help. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

I am not the only person that has spoke to SR from this forum about the general upkeep of public cams in our area being sub-par at best. They'll be scouting locations down here in roughly a month or so. They have a list all over the place - Corpus, Portland/Ingleside, Baffin, Padre, Mustang, Port A, AP, & Rockport. And it's only getting bigger with each person they talk to. They may be joining the CoC for community support as well, and also talking to the operators of our current 'public' cams (city, BHP, HCP) about running & maintaining those as well. I wanted to offer my possibility of connections via my employer, but I chose not to share that info as they may consider that a 'bribe'.
The gent I spoke to said they may be recruiting locals as well to help with systems and camera maintenance. We didn't discuss if it was going to offer pay or be more voluntary, but either way I offered my services too even though I have an erratic schedule. Give them a shout. And yes, they are the 'underwriter/maintainer' of the official City of Galveston seawall cam. Always clean, user-controlled, nearly 360-deg views, free-of-charge. He also said $7/month for what they're asking for the BHP cam is "very high" - if you're not using one of the 'pirate' feeds. 'Nuff said IMO.
And Donnie - lay off the damn Liam Neeson movies and go fishing more. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

Don't need to. Read and watched them all. Read most of Hemingway in fact - including his unfinished book that he was working on when he passed. You and I need to fish together for a while. What're you up to tomorrow? I'll let you share all your puns if you wanna go.
You're gonna need a bigger boat. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

I would love to - but my next days off will be awhile. I may go out one evening soon though. I just watched "Papa" a few nights ago, by the way. Wow - to hear the FBI was as corrupt back then. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy.
