|
|
I was planning a trip to camp on the beach in Bolivar and surf fish ourselves silly. Given that there is a tropical storm, potentially a Cat 1 approaching the NE Texas coast; thinking a change of plans.
The only problem. We have never fished PINS. I have been following the forum for a while and I am half afraid to make a trip; based on all the discussions about high tides, getting trapped, etc.... and I don't know the lay of the land.
Definitely would want to camp on PINS beach but, how jacked up is this idea?
Any and all comments are more than welcome. I planned on calling the trip one way or another by tomorrow evening. |

| I would consider another weekend. PINS could get "harry" with high tides. |

Looking at wavefinder.com; tide looks like it's ranging +1.6 feet and -0.7 feet, no different than today.
What's considered high tide? |

Ummm.......... Wavefinder.com = based on harmonic analysis of tides (the same protocol used to make 'tide charts' in fishing magazines that are printed 3-6 months out)?!?!
They don't have any local wind, barometric pressure, tropical activity, etc, etc, etc., information plugged into them. Grab a 'tide chart' a month or so ahead of Hurricane Harvey from a couple of years ago, and see which ones 'forecast' that storm????
Trust your eyes [and the most recent NOAA satellite passes, ..... and the Blucher gauge on Bob Hall,....and the PINS camera, and that's all I need]. They don't lie.....
Bonus points for The Jerk reference!

Don't want to do the mess around with any tropical storm.

Ditto. And just for reference sake, a "+1.8ft" high tide (on CURRENT conditions - not forecast I should say) is usually at the picnic tables at BHP, so driving is almost nil. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
