Of course it's a kayak but it's built specifically for offshore paddling, and I'm prepared to do plenty of that. After 3 1/2 months I've already put 247 miles on her (mostly in the bay and river) but when this wind lays again the fish are gonna be in trouble...

Cool! As an aside, I want to thank you for the Halco reccomendation, the deep diving version is working very well on lake Travis striper. They've pretty much replaced the Rapalas I normally use.

If the wind ever dies I'll be down to try them around the rigs next week

Donnie, it's a Stealth Fisha 555 from Roy's. It's fiberglass, 60 lbs, 18'2" long, 27" wide, 504 lb capacity, 8' internal fish box/rod holder, and it's fast.

Wow....I thought your new yak was a Malibu and I was amazed that they are now making such a machine. I finally got with it and went to Roy's website where I found the Stealth models.
They are quite a boat and I just have one question for you:
How do you transport the 18' model that you have? That would be a mother to put on a car top or pickup bed for most of us.
Thanks for a great article and an intriguing option for those that kayak.

Thanks Prof - the 504 lb capacity may come in handy.

I built a couple of racks on an old boat trailer for easy loading and unloading, but when I have needed to get it across a parking lot, it's not bad at 60 lbs to pick up and carry. All Stealths have two handles on the left side that are placed to balance the weight and allow for surprisingly easy carry (just watch the ends. At 18'2" it sticks way out there).
