These pesky 'High Water Events' have an upside. It made for an easy launch at Bird Island today!
Not often you see fish swimming over the decking.

this is how high the water was south of Bob Hall this morning. Also tons of debris. You can look into wash out d and see the debris line all the way up to the base of the main dunes.

I was just at cosway pier the other night and the water was slapping the bottom of the pier. Lots of water in the bay and lots of pin fish too. _________________ Hey that gull took your bait |

The upper midwest flooding is showing up now.
I found a bunch of plastic 'biobead' type things on the beach, and it turns out they are used in wastewater treatment plants......
Ewwwwwwwwwwww...... Luckily, they were nice and clean.
Somewhere in Nebraska, a water treatment plant is missing their 'stuff'.....

| that could be SA - every time Salado Creek floods, they put out signs on the Greenways that those puddles are raw sewage. |

So did the sea level rise - or did we lose a lot of beach sand since we havent had a sargassam wave to pack the beach front down ? Looking back at my pictures - we had a nasty sargassam wave, back in 2014 - my pictures of May through early summer - show it pretty bad. And if the sea level rose - my plan would be to only travel at low - tide - until and if that gets pushed back as well. What do we have thats local would show an average sealevel that hasnt moved in the last 20 years. My brother lives on packary channel - and I have plenty of pictures from - before 2015 - i am going to try to compare then to now - though of course I dont have tidal times that i could use for the pre-2015 stuff. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

D. All of the above. One more thing to add. I remember from the seminar at the surf museum on coastal flooding and sea level rise. There are areas around here that are sinking. Some more than others. The Rockport Lamar peninsula being the worst.
I know I sure don't like wading to launch and retrieve the boat. _________________ Adrift on the Mother Lagoon |

| So this new high level of water is a permanent situation? I was under the impression it was temporary due to flooding. |

The high water is mostly due to the damning of the rivers, particularly the rio grande and Colorado 70+ years ago. Most of the sand on the fore dunes of PINS is from the Llano Uplift (the Colorado)...above Mansfield and Wirtz/Starke. Don't take my word for it...just pick up a handful of sand on the beach and look at it with your readers on. That pink Kspar only comes from one place on earth. And there's almost no way for it to get out here anymore. _________________ Fish ON! |

| Why then such a drastic change the past two weeks? This would be a huge change as pins would be a risky trip most of the time. |
