Megan, Hunter, and I hit the beach late Saturday afternoon. The weed was pretty bad the whole way down to the thirties but we decided to try anyway. Shortly after deploying the first two baits in the rough surf, both get absolutely hammered, but no hookups. Then the 4/0 takes off again and we're hooked up. Megan took the rod and fought her best until the line became snagged with the 6/0 and I had to take over bringing the shark over the bar. She did all the hard work and was rewarded with her best shark to date, a fat 5'10" blacktip.

After tagging and releasing her shark, she goes off on a walk and Hunter and I watch the rods with much anticipation. Just as I was telling Hunter the weed was taking his line north, it suddenly grew fins and a tail and exploded on a few monster runs. As he was fighting his mystery fish, my daiwa goes screaming and I'm hooked up. About ten seconds later, my other 4/0 takes off and we've got a triple header and we're down one angler. As I'm doing my best dealing with two rods, my 4/0 seems to go slack so I got to concentrate on the daiwa. Just as I can see fins from my fish, Hunters shark breaks free and keeps heading to Cuba. I get my fish in for the tag and release. Another fat and healthy blacktip, this one just breaking 6 feet:

While I am walking her back in, the 4/0 takes off again, but this time she's hooked for good. After a good battle, I pulled in this nice bull, that just barely broke seven feet at 85".

Final tally was three landed with three big misses. What a great afternoon of fishing, lines in the water for 3 hours, and three great fish to show for it.

Great shark--we drove by and watched her haul it in. She did a great job. I also took a few pics. If you like, I can email them to you. Just give me your email address.

Tuna,

Are you kayaking your bait out on the Frenzy I see on the beach? How far are you placing it?

Thanks,

Ray
