There was one happening in the Backyard this morning, but it was expected. For the most part everyone was playing nice, did not have a drift cut off. Only one 23 red, on a red shad sand eel.
Yesterday evening was better. Got an 18 red on a spoon. Then BIL got the hot hand, 24 then 22 red, plus a bonus 18 trout. Purple/chartreuse Gulp under a cork. Drifting potholes in the clearest water we could find.
Will try again this evening. The warriors will be off the water and we will have a lot water to ourselves!

| Saturday evening report...slow, nada, nothing. Drifted the same areas that gave up a few Friday night. |

I went out today and got only one 17 inch trout. Water still ugly. A softball buddy of mine went out with his son and another person using live croaker and this is what they got in the backyard.

Very nice!
We hit it Sunday evening and made one long drift up until dark. Started in relatively clear water out toward the ICW. Gulps, spoons, topwater. Nothing. Got into the sandy color change and 3 dink trout on Norton red shad sand eel. One blowup on topwater. Then into the chocolate milk and nada. |

Surprisingly slow for being a holiday out there today. I went to the bluff on Saturday to grab some mud bugs, we were going to boil out at the ranch, traffic was backed up past Waldron road with yahoos trying to get to the beach. GF wanted to fish today and I told her no way I was going out today after what I saw Saturday. She convinced me to take a quick drive out to the boat launch to see how crazy it was. Turns out there were half the boats there than most week days lately. Came back home hooked up the skiff and enjoyed a nice afternoon on the water. Fishing was sub par and water clarity wasn't much to speak of, but the day was nice and in the end that's all I'm really after. _________________ It's not the destination, the journey is everything. |
