Saw on KRIS TV this morning that they saved a kayaker that went into the water this morning in OSO Bay.

I can see how easily that could happen. Even yesterday afternoon it was hard for me walking to my truck from Sam's.

A couple kayakers saved in Baffin Bay in high winds as well. Sometimes I don't know what people are thinking.

I am a power boater, but I also use a kayak, due to it's stealth. That being said, I believe a high percentage of kayakers are not as experienced with the extreme conditions which can evolve on the water and are caused by weather changes, thus do not anticipate their potential dangers. I've been on Baffin Bay in a pretty hairy situation due to very high winds and with several others onboard and subject to my decisions, and I can't imagine being in the same situation, less the others (obviously) in a kayak. My encouragement to kayakers is to be very aware of the weather forecast, and especially those referencing wind speeds and direction. Also, it would not be a bad ideal for all kayakers to wear reflective clothing like a traffic cop. Not wanting to cause hard feelings here, just wanting to save someone's life.

i personally rather be in my kayak (viking) than a lot of boats in hairy situations on the water. With that said a lot of novice anglers are able to get into kayak fishing for a low price finding yaks that are 2-300$ at academy. Your opening up the sport to so many people that have zero experience how to handle things on the water. They load their 2 piece pelican kayak down with cooler, bait, nets, anchors, tackle and rods and you have a floating platform of hazards on a kayak that is well over its weight capacity. These people don't realize how bad wind gets on the water and how to handle their weight on a kayak, capsize in 4 ft of water and panic.
