according to David this is his last article for the CT he is taking the retirement package that is being offered to him. Told me he might do some freelance articles.

I used to read his articles all the time. Helped us figure out when to come down to CC and where to fish. That was until Caller Times started charging to read the articles. Now I just come here to find my fishing times and places.

Great article and your stories will be missed. Some of the names in your article I haven't heard of in a long time nor spoken with. Brings back old memories. Thanks again David

You will be missed, David. Enjoy the retirement and forthcoming adventures. I'll save you a spot in the the boat for Nueces or the KRS.

David's articles were about the only reason I kept buying the paper for as long as I did. Good job, David.

Thanks David for all the years of interesting and exciting articles. And a very well put farewell article. Now you will head down the path to retirement or possibly semi-retirement as did you sports writer predecessors like Buddy Gough and Ol' Roy Swan. Best of luck on your new adventures...cC

My dad and I used to read his syndicated articles up in San Antonio's paper all the time (when they would feature him). We always looked forward to his reports to gauge when a good time to come down would be (glad I don't have that problem anymore). I hope he keeps writing and providing great knowledge to us Coastal Bend fisher men & women.

Carry on, Mr. Sikes, and enjoy retirement from the terrible MSM. Wink

It's too bad that the Caller / USA Today doesn't recognize the importance of having an award-winning columnist on their staff. They have reverted to 2 day old news and a very limited local section in the newspaper. David deserves better

He takes a couple good photos every now and then, too!
Best of luck in your new life phase, sir.

It's worse than that. All they do now is watch the local TV news at 6, then run the same stories, in the very same order, the next day in the paper. So much so, that on Jan 1st, there was a 'news story' on how it is illegal to shoot fireworks in the City.

Read that very carefully, JAN 1st, after New Years Eve, and all the celebratory fireworks!!!!

Yea, nah, the Caller-Times doesn't deserve David.

Best of luck in your future endeavors, David. You are a class act.

I have enjoyed your columns, articles and photos over the years. And talking to you that one time in the Bluff HEB. Very Happy
