Well in spite of having a stout man cold I tried to see if there were any trout around down south on PINS. Knowing that today could be very iffy knowing that if Billy Sandifer were alive, he and I would have gone today so that is what I did. Got to the pavement and the surf was down from the northwest wind. Air temperature was 50 but the water was muddy as far as the eye could see. I continued past the 20 still more muddy water and more weed. Then to the 30 more muddy water. There was a slight decrease in the murkiness in the lower 30's and then it go muddier until about the 50 where it wasn't chocolate milk but only 6 inches visibility tops! I ran into guide, Jeff Wolda and we decided to head back before that tight spot near the 41mm got filled up with water on high tide. We did just for grins try fishing one little minor hole in the lower thirties that had a tiny bit of visibility. I had Jeff use the lure Billy used to catch his 9.6lb winter trout in 2004 an 801 51m in Black Gold Black - good for dirty water. But fate was not with us today. Anyhow it was great thinking about how Billy and I used to go down and encounter the very same conditions or perfect water and holes south of the 35. Today was not the case!

Thanks for the report Tyler. Even though the fishing wasn't good the memories of Billy were.

Hiya!,

I just couldn't get motivated to head down there today. I know the water was going to lay down, but with as chilly the water was and not much of a warm up today, I decided to stay in. Maybe next week will hold better days off.
