Hey everyone another update from another day trip

Started at Cosway as the usual and using live shrimp I was able to fish up some puppy reds and the usual dinkers so nothing to fancy but got the blood pumping. The water was very flat and current pretty weak. No black drum sightings but I was there still around 1 am.

whoa that lunker of a baby trout

I scooted my way to bob hall pier to set up for the rest of the night to enjoy the flat surf. Lots of pony mullet and whitings around. Even spotted some large shadows patrolling bellow the mullets as well. I couldn't really get any trouts at bobhall so I decide to keep my larger whitings that I caught. ""ALERT FLOUNDER SIGHTING"" Caught my PB for flounder on fish bites and popping cork. I even got to see the flounder erupt from the sand and take my bright pink shrimp fish bite deep into the sand.

Later on I headed to port a jetties to try my luck getting some sheepheads and just wound up catching more baby flounders. All and all it was a really good time and I had some nice fillets to take home as well.
There were many jelly fish that day I did notice that at the jetties.

The gentleman at the marker 37 cleaning station is quiet an artist with that knife

I ended up having some dinner at Docs and got some great sunset pictures too. I hope you guys catch your pomps this week/weekend

Nice report and that PB flounder makes it all worth it.

I would like to hear more about seeing the fish "erupt from the sand and take my bright pink shrimp fish bite deep into the sand". How far out on the pier were you etc? That would be cool to see.

Well I normally like to sight cast my fish and observe whats going on. I didn't know exactly the flounder would be there but I have caught flounder in that location. It was at bobhall pier and the water was about 2 feet deep maybe less and it was near the first gut during a lowtide. I was nearly under the pier when all of a sudden a large sand cloud erupted around my bait and then my fish bite "disappeared" inside the cloud. I could see the flounder then rest back on the ocean floor while the popping cork, which has about 2 feet of leader on it, was stuck in a half submerged position showing me exactly where the flounder was. So I believe I was no more than 4 feet from the pier when it hit. I found it really interesting watching the sand suddenly change when there is nothing there to cause it other than a fish. I get so used to watching waves crash and churn the sand that when a large fish does it then you really get excited to see whats gonna happen next.

The same situation at the port A jetties except the smaller flounder was hiding near some large rocks and simply crept up and ambushed my bait while I was trying to present it to the sheepheads.

Thanks again for the detailed report. Great photos too! I am absolutely horrible at catching flounder so congrats on your PB!

Ha ha nice job on that flounder! I am ashamed at how I cleaned some smaller pomps the other day. I try to keep from stabbing myself and miss a bit. Then I get too careful and start fillet on the wrong side of the backbone!
