Hey everyone just got a moment to update on how the fishing was this Sunday Thru Monday on my day trip.
As always I started my fishing at Cos-way pier around 9pm and grabbed some live shrimp and found the fishing was a tad slow and the wind was very calm around that time {5-7 mph}. The current was pretty active that whole night more so on the long deck side. I did see a couple of big uglies get caught on the corner that night but it was only for a 2 hour window at most. I snagged a couple of trouts and one big hard head. I had in the bait bucket a huge shrimp so the perfect oxymoron. To say the least not much action and very surface calm water.
I went to scope out bob-hall and once I got there I saw the swells were about 3 feet and churned brown water up the entire pier. Few people were on there but hard heads and sailcats were all that were being caught so I decide to pass on that and head to caldwell pier in port A.
Caldwell was a ghost town that night.

The water was a big improvement from bobhall so I decided to made camp and was able to get some sea and sand trouts, whitings and no hardheads. Live shrimps and crab fishbites. NIce sized whitings that night I had to take a few home.
Packery was not very kind that morning. Heavy current pulling out to sea and beach-side was way to choppy for my taste. I only stuck around there for an hour before I got sick of the sea spray and wind.
New location this trip Lexington
Oh man this place is a mix bag for me since I had to learn the lay of the land. Lots of rocks and hang ups but once you learn the layout of the area it really produces many fish. The current by the boat is great for drifting on with live shrimp. Trouts, skip jacks, larger piggy perch were out in force. Both sides offer a lot of opportunity so I recommend ya give it a try. Oh heads up to those that live in corpus and that area. A land developer on the jetty (weird meet up) told me that in the future they would be redoing that breaker wall by the ship and replace and fix it. Hope its true cause I wanna fish it again. Oh and I there is free parking by the pier 99 but I was using a parking meter so I will know next time.

That was one of 15 that size. I actually had an issue with that they kept breaking my lines and I still haven't figured out what i need to do to prevent that. _________________ Hey that gull took your bait |

Thank you for the reports and pictures. Im stuck doing stuff around the house this time of year. To help stop the break offs try a 12 inch steel leader and use a few yards of heavier mono as a topshot on your reel. The steel leader will resist teeth and the mono will hold up to sharp fins and scaled and tails and rocks and whatnot. |
